MU CHAPTER
Character
Every individual upholds unique qualities that characterize them for who they are. Every sister in Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. possesses individual characteristics that make them special. Some of the traits each of these ladies possess are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, caringness, and citizenship. These attributes are looked up to in the sisterhood and are preached on a daily basis in every aspect of our lives. We always work towards providing the best we can for our community and university through the various contributions we make.
Leadership
Leadership is an individual’s ability to guide others towards achieving their goals and ambitions. As leaders, we are responsible for maintaining structure and order in our community. The sisters of Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. each hold significant qualities that make them strong leaders. Apart from guiding the sorority, many of the sisters are also greatly involved as leaders of many other organizations. Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. enables us to further develop leadership skills that we are able to employ in the professional world.
Scholarship
Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. prioritizes the importance of education. Each and every sister works towards achieving excellence in their work and maintaining high academic standards. The sisters at the Mu chapter, in specific, have been honored with the Outstanding Academic Achievement award for being the chapter with the highest GPA. In addition, every chapter awards the Emerald Endowment Scholarship to a woman who is not affiliated with this sorority. Different women are honored with these scholarships based on their demonstration of leadership, scholarship, and service in their community.
Sisterhood
The sisters of Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. share an unbreakable bond that expresses their deep love and passion for one another and the sorority. Sisterhood can be perceived in many ways. For some, it is having a home away from home, while for others it is the feeling of always having someone to turn to. We never spare an opportunity to experience sisterhood to its fullest. Whether it be small hangouts or nationwide conferences, we always bring out the best in each other when we’re together.
Service
Service is something that sisters of the sorority take seriously because we all love the feeling we get when we are able to give back to the community and help those who are less fortunate. It is nice knowing that you are making a difference in these children’s lives especially because you know you are helping them from staying out of trouble during the time period they are playing soccer. Overall, Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. is involved in many things, but service is one of the most important aspects of the sisterhood. It shows that Kappa Phi Gamma cares and will continue to do so, for service holds a special place in all of our hearts.
Culture
Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. was founded as a South Asian interest sorority by a group of 27 women who came from various backgrounds. Our culture plays a huge role in who we are. It enables us to relate to each other on a deeper level and share our values and morals. However, we heartily welcome individuals from all backgrounds to be a part of our sisterhood. We enjoy the presence of each and every sister and what they bring to the sorority. We allow our sisters to embrace and understand all the backgrounds.
Womanhood
To empower is to give authority or power to an individual. As individuals it’s important to give ourselves power over our own lives. We must take charge of our lives and fight past hurdles and obstacles to get to our end goal. Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority Inc. has a very strong stand on womanhood and leadership. We need to put aside issues that are insignificant to our success and make time for what will help us in our future. In addition, even though it’s important to maintain relationships and make new ones, we must understand that we shouldn’t let anyone stand in the way of our goals. As individuals is it up to us not to depend on anyone else, and take our future into our own hands.
Self
A strong sense of self means having true awareness of who you are. It is beyond necessary to believe in yourself and aspire to be your ideal self, especially during a time when there are many external influences that may tell you to think or act in a certain way. Each and every sister in Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. is unique, possessing various talents and skills which they bring to the sisterhood. We also hold great pride in who we are and what the sisterhood has instilled in us.
