San Filippo Syndrome

San Filippo Syndrome, also known as Mucopolysaccharidosis III, is a rare disease where the body does not produce enzymes to break down the accumulating sugars. Unfortunately, this disease is progressive and only gets worse with age, eventually leading to death. There is no cure for this disease. In order to raise awareness for this destructive disease, we organized a week dedicated to raising money and awareness of San Filippo Syndrome by donating all proceeds to Team San Filippo.

Event One was the "Pie for San Filippo" which was held November 1st, 2016. On this day, students paid a small fee to pie professors, the Brothers of Sigma Beta Rho, and the Sisters of Kappa Phi Gamma. It was a successful day filled with laughs and fighting for a good cause.

Event Two was the Copa Banana Fundraiser which was held November 3rd, 2016. On this day, students came to Copa Banana for dinner between 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The money they used for their meals went toward Team San Filippo.

Both events had successful turnouts and we did a phenomenal job raising money and awareness for this great cause!
